I live around the corner from Komachi restaurant and have happily been a regular visitor there over the last 11 years. Lunch or dinner, for me it is the closest thing in Sydney to typical no-fuss Tokyo neighbourhood eating house, and a favourite place to drop into with friends, whether for ramen or to share a variety of signature dishes like the soft shell crab, tofu steak, seaweed salad, beef tataki and chicken kara-age. The tempura is excellent and, especially in winter, I can recommend the seafood okonomiyaki ! Since recently, there has also been a fine, though small selection of sake. Over the years the service has always been friendly and informal. And the activity in the kitchen is a pleasure to observe. I’ve never risen to the ramen challenge, but I do enjoy the live koto music if I’m there on the right night !   Luke Hardy
